Payslip Generator

Build a specimen payslip from typed details — employer, employee, pay period, gross pay and itemised deductions — with net pay worked out for you. Every copy is permanently watermarked "SPECIMEN": this is a template and illustration tool, not a real payroll document, and there is no way to import or edit an actual payslip file here.

Payslip details

Only needed for variable-hours pay — shown on the specimen when filled in.

Deductions — edit the pre-filled rows, or add one for a pension contribution or anything else.

Nothing you type is uploaded anywhere — the specimen is built entirely in your browser. The "SPECIMEN" watermark and the "Illustration only" footer on the preview cannot be switched off, hidden or edited by any control on this page.

What a real payslip must include

Most employees and workers have the right to a written, itemised pay statement on or before payday. Under the Employment Rights Act 1996 it must show gross pay, the amount and reason for any variable deductions (such as Income Tax and National Insurance) and fixed deductions, net pay, how any part-payments are made, and — where pay depends on hours worked — the hours worked. This generator mirrors that layout for illustration, but it does not calculate tax, National Insurance or pension contributions for you, and every copy it produces carries a permanent watermark so it can never be mistaken for a genuine payslip.

FAQ

What does this generator actually calculate?
Only one thing: net pay = gross pay minus the deductions you list. It does not work out Income Tax, National Insurance or pension contributions for you — type in figures you already know, or estimate Income Tax and National Insurance first with our UK take-home pay calculator and copy them into the deduction rows here.
What must a real payslip legally contain?
Under section 8 of the Employment Rights Act 1996, most employees and workers must be given a written itemised pay statement on or before payday showing gross pay, the amounts and reasons for variable deductions (like tax and National Insurance) and fixed deductions, net pay, and — where pay varies by time worked — the hours worked. See gov.uk's summary for who is entitled to one and how it can be delivered.
Can I remove the watermark or use this to prove my income?
No. The diagonal "SPECIMEN" watermark and the "Illustration only — not an official payroll document" footer are permanent — no control on this page hides, edits or removes them, and the tool has no way to import or alter a real payslip file in the first place; it only ever builds a fresh specimen from the fields you type. Presenting a fabricated payslip to a mortgage lender, landlord, letting agent or employer as if it were genuine is fraud. In England and Wales this is typically prosecuted as fraud by false representation under section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006, which Crown Prosecution Service guidance confirms carries a maximum sentence of 10 years' imprisonment — quite apart from losing the mortgage, tenancy or job it was used to obtain. Only use this generator for genuine specimens, templates, mockups or software testing.

Sources & legal basis

Method: net pay = gross pay − sum of the deduction rows you list. That is the only calculation this page performs; it does not derive Income Tax, National Insurance or pension figures itself. Nothing typed here is uploaded anywhere — the specimen is built and rendered entirely in your browser.
